The Leadersedge is a 10–month equipping / growth opportunity that combines practical knowledge with personal coaching. In recent years there has been much discussion about the need to compliment the quality academic training that is available through our schools with effective personal growth opportunities that focus on spiritual formation, relational skills and leadership development. The alarming statistics related to the lack of growth in most churches and the escalating growth in frustration and drop out rates for ministers says that we can no longer just talk about this need.

Its Uniqueness
The uniqueness of the Leadersedge is not the topics or the content. Our problem is not a lack of information. There are more books and quality training opportunities than ever before. The problem is that information by itself does not automatically lead to transformation. The primary differences in the Leadersedge are the training process and the emphasis on personal coaching. The vast majority of training for leaders today focuses almost exclusively on conveying needed information. (i.e. read my book, come to my conference) While many continue to follow this pattern that focuses on collecting information, the data overwhelmingly shows behavioral change, personal growth in relationships and emotional health occur most effectively in a process of extended personal feedback and healthy accountability. There are thousands of stories from “conference junkies” as well as avid readers reinforcing the fact that exposure to wonderful information does not necessarily result in personal transformation.
The Process
The transformational process for the Leadersedge includes ten one-day monthly training events, two monthly individual coaching appointments with a qualified coach as well as a monthly time of prayer and encouragement (by phone or in person) with a peer triad. Each of the participants will be actively involved in a ministry setting.
Another distinguishing characteristic of this training is the priority focus on personal growth. We believe the needs and results we are currently experiencing in the local church will not significantly change without providing spiritual leaders the help and encouragement that leads to growth and higher levels of leadership effectiveness. Because Christian coaching is a partnership that helps individuals move from where they are to where God wants them to be, it has tremendous potential for all who want to continue their personal growth and develop the ministry skills that enable them to make a higher Kingdom impact.
